Gallardo brothers tackle Bryan Mize Memorial at Rocket Raceway Park
Jake and Fito both made the trek to the Rocket Raceway Park and the RPM Speedway over the holiday weekend to compete in the annual Bryan Mize Memorial at Rocket and at the Ronnie Sigman Memorial at RPM.
54 Modifieds signed in at Rocket and 39 at RPM, with heavy hitters throughout both fields.
At Rocket, Jake raced from 4th to 2nd in his heat, ran fifth in the dash and then started 3rd and won his qualifier, while Fito ran fourth in his heat from fifth and then finished 9th in his qualifier, setting themselves up for the $10,000 to win payday the following night.
Saturday, Fito ran third in his heat race, then won his qualifier before starting 18th in the feature and finishing in 18th. Jake started from the fifth spot and worked his way forward into the top three before stealing the second spot and settling in for runner up honors when the checkered flag flew.
At RPM, Jake fell out of his heat race, which caused him to have to start 12th in the b-main, which he did and was able to race forward to 4th. From there, he earned the 20th starting spot in the night's 48-lap feature and charged forward to run 5th, earning hard charger honors. Fito raced from 5th up to 4th in his heat but fell out of the b-main, ending his night early.
