September 11, 2021 - Gallardo's compete in USMTS tripleheader

Fito and Jake both were in action with the USMTS over the past weekend at the RPM Speedway in Crandall, TX on Thursday; the Ark-La-Tex Speedway in Vivian, LA on Friday and the Revolution Motorsports Park in Monroe, LA on Saturday night.

At RPM on Thursday, Jake ran sixth in his heat race, fourth in the b-main and then was able to work forward from his 19th starting spot up to finish 11th in the feature. Fito ran fifth in his heat race and then finished 7th in the night's b-main.

Friday, at Ark-La-Tex, Jake ran third in his heat race and finished 12th in the feature, while Fito ran second in his heat race and then unfortunately fell out of the feature before the checkered.

Saturday, at the Rev, Jake won his heat, but finished 19th in the feature, while Fito ran 8th in his heat race and crossed the line with a 7th place b-main run.

September 5, 2021 - Pair of 12th-place finshes with American Racer Modified Series at RPM

Jake entered a pair of American Racer Modified Series events at the RPM Speedway Crandall, TX. Saturday night, he ran second in his heat race, before running 9th in the b-main and then was able to rally forward in the feature from his 26th starting spot up to a 12th place finish. Sunday, he ran second in his heat race for the second night in a row before starting 11th and finishing 12th in the night's main event.

August 28, 2021 - Both Fito and Jake Gallardo pick up wins
Fito was in action on Saturday night at the Vado Speedway Park in Vado, NM with his USRA B-Mod. He was able to run from 4th to 2nd in his heat race and then after starting 14th in the feature, he worked his way through the field and took the lead past the midpoint of the event and race off to the feature win.

1Then, both Fito and Jake made the trek to the Texas Motor Speedway in No Limits, TX for the final Texas Monday Series event and Fito unfortunately was involved in a hard crash in the heat race, ending his night, but Jake experienced the other end of the spectrum and raced to his first feature win at TMS, winning his heat from the pole and then winning the feature from the outside of the front row for his efforts.

August 16, 2021 - Second and third-place finishes at Texas Motor Speedway

Fito and Jake were rained out at the Vado Speedway Park on Saturday night, but made the trek to the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track in No Limits, TX for a Sunday-Monday Doubleheader and came away with top five finishes on Sunday night and top ten runs on Monday. 

Sunday night, Jake raced from 10th up to 3rd in his heat race, while Fito raced from 7th to 3rd in his. Then both drivers raced inside the top five during the feature, Jake racing from 11th up to 2nd, with Fito crossing the finish line in third. 

Monday night, Fito ran sixth in his heat with Jake crossing the line 6th. Jake then charged forward in the main from his 21st starting spot up to 9th and Fito was able to cross the finish line with a 10th place finish.

July 26, 2021 - Pair of Top-5 finishes in Texas Monday Series

Fito and Jake made the trek to the states of Oklahoma and Texas over this past weekend and competed in an American Racer Mod Series event at the Lawton Speedway in Lawton, OK on Saturday night and then continued their participation at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track for the track's Monday Night Series, which this week was a Sunday and Mondy night event.

Saturday, at Lawton, Fito didnt compete, but Jake ran fifth in his heat race and then after starting 22nd in the main, fell out of competition before the end, ending his night early.

1Sunday, at TMS, Fito had a rough night, getting caught up in a pair of wrecks, ending his night before he was able to finish a race, but Jake ran fourth in his heat race and then worked his way forward from his 9th starting spot in the feature up to a solid third place finish. 

Monday night, both drivers ran second in their respective heat races and then ran inside the top five for the entire feature, battling side by side for second for several laps until Fito raced to a second place finish and Jake crossed the line in fourth.

July 17, 2021 - Jake edges his dad at Vado Speedway Park
Fito and Jake were in action at the Vado Speedway Park in Vado, NM this past Saturday night with Jake racing to the feature win and Fito crossing the finish line with a second place finish for his efforts. Jake raced from 5th to 2nd in his heat, while Fito raced from 6th to 3rd in his and then both drivers started in the 4th row together in the main and both worked their way forward together as well. July 10, 2021 - Fito Gallardo tops B-Mod field at Vado Speedway
Jake and Fito both were in action at the Vado Speedway Park in Vado, NM on Saturday night in both the USRA Modified and USRA B-Mod divisions. After running second in his heat race, Fito was able to charge from his 13th starting spot in the B-Mod feature to race to the win, while Jake raced from 8th to 5th in his heat and then scratched from the feature. In the Mods, Fito raced from 7th to 3rd in his heat and Jake raced from 6th to 2nd in his before both drivers ran side by side for the second spot during the majority of the feature, with Jake edging his dad by a nose for the runner up spot when the checkered flag flew. July 5, 2021 - Pair of Top-5 finishes at Texas Motor Speedway

The team made the trek to the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track in Fort Worth, TX for the track's first Monday series event this past Monday night, and after a pair of rain delays, totaling over 3 hours, Jake raced home with a second in his heat and a third in the feature, while Fito ran third in his heat and placed fifth in the feature for his efforts

June 26, 2021 - Fito Gallardo races to Vado Speedway Park checkers
Fito and Jake were both in action over the weekend on Saturday night at the Vado Speedway Park in Vado, NM for the track's final event in the month of June. (James Adams Jr. photo)

Jake raced from 5th up to 2nd in his heat race and then moved forward from his 5th starting spot in the feature up to cross the finish line with a third-place finish, while Fito won his heat from third and then raced from his 6th starting spot in the 25-lap feature to the lead and raced away with the victory.

June 19, 2021 - Jake notches Top-5 finish at Superbowl Speedway

Fito and Jake made the trek to the Superbowl Speedway in Greenville, Texas on Saturday night for the USRA Modified event. Fito ran fifth in his heat race, then finished third in the b, before racing home with a 16th place finish in the night's feature event. Jake won his heat race from the outside of the front row before starting and finishing fourth in the feature race.

June 12, 2021 - Jake tops USRA foes at West Texas Raceway

Firday night, the team was in action at the West Texas Raceway in Lubbock, TX, where Jake won his heat race and Fito finished third in his heat before the duo battled out front in the feature for most of the race, with Jake crossing the finish line first with the win and Fito coming home in second. 

1Saturday, at the Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo, TX, Fito won his heat from the pole, while Jake ran third in his. The teammates started on the front row of the main together and after a brief battle out front, Jake retired from the event with mechanical issues and Fito went on to lead the majority of the feature, eventually finishing second, capping off a solid weekend.

June 5, 2021 - Fito places second in Modified at Vado
1Fito and Jake were both in action at the Vado Speedway Park in Vado, NM this past Saturday night in their USRA Modifieds. Fito ran fifth in his heat race, while Jake raced from 7th up to 3rd in his. Both drivers were able to make their way forward in the main with Fito racing from 13th up to a runner up finish, while Jake raced from 9th up to 4th at the checkered.

May 29, 2021 - Jake sweeps Memorial Day weekend special at Vado

Saturday, Fito ran fifth in his heat race before charging from 15th to 4th in the main, while Jake suffered a DNF in his heat, but then proceeded to put on a show for the packed house as he rallied from his 24th starting position in the main to slice his way through the field to pick up the win. 

1Sunday, Fito fell out of his heat and then raced home with a 13th place finish in the feature, while Jake kept up his winning ways, winning his heat race from 8th and then charging from 17th to pick up his second win of the weekend.

May 22, 2021 - Jake notches runner-up finish at Vado Speedway Park
1Both Gallardos were in action on Saturday night at the Vado Speedway Park in Vado, NM.

Fito competed in the USRA Modified division and after racing from 4th to 2nd in his heat race, he started 8th in the main, but unfortunately suffered mechanical issues.

Jake entered both USRA Modified and USRA B-Mod action but only competed in his B-Mod heat as he suffered mechanical issues after the checkered in the heat race and was forced to scratch from the main event. In the Mod, he raced from 7th to 3rd in the heat and then after starting 5th in the feature and was able to take command early in the feature and looked like he was going to drive off for the win, but ended up settling for second after being passed for the lead near the end of the event.

May 15, 2021 - Gallardo's travel to USMTS doubleheader
1Jake and Fito were both back on tour with the USMTS over the weekend at the Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, KS on Friday night and at the Tri-State Speedway in Pocola, OK on Saturday.

Friday night, Fito ran 8th in his heat race and finished 18th in the night's b-main, ending his night early, while Jake ran seventh in his heat, finished 9th in the b and then after using a provisional to start the feature from the 25th position, he was scored 24th in the official finish.

Saturday, Fito ran 9th in his heat rand 15th in the b, while Jake finished third in his heat race and 5th in the b, just missing the transfer spot into the main event.

May 8, 2021 - Fito finds victory lane at Vado Speedway Park

1Fito was able to race to victory lane for the first time this season after racing from his 13th starting spot. He raced from seventh up to fourth in his heat race before storming through the field from inside of the 7th row and raced to win the main event. Jake raced his way forward as well from his 15th starting spot up to battle for the race lead, eventually coming across the finish line with a second place finish.

May 1, 2021 - Jake marches to fourth-place finish at Vado
1Both Gallardo's were in action on Saturday night at the Vado Speedway Park in Vado, NM in the USRA B-Mod division. 

Jake had a tough heat race, starting 9th and advancing 2 positions to finish in 7th. In the main, he was able to rally from his 20th starting spot up to a solid 4th place finish when the checkered flag flew. 

Fito had a rough night, falling out of both his heat and feature with mechanical issues.

April 24, 2021 - Jake Gallardo double dips at Vado Speedway Park
Fito and Jake were back in action on Saturday night at the Vado Speedway Park in Vado, NM and Jake was able to sweep the night in both the USRA Modified and USRA B-Mod divisions. (James Adams Jr. photos)

In the Mods, Jake raced from 4th to 2nd in his heat race and then after starting 3rd in the feature, he quickly jumped out front and ran off with his first Modified win of the season. In the B-Mod, he raced from 7th up to 4th in his heat race and then charged from 10th to race away with his 4th straight B-Mod feature win of the season.

1Fito had a good night as well, racing from 5th to 2nd in his Modified heat and then backing that up with a solid second place finish in the feature, after starting 8th. In the B-Mod, he fell out of the heat race, which forced him to start 20th in the main. From his 10th row starting position, he charged through the field and made it to second when the checkered flag flew.

April 17, 2021 - Gallardo marches from 14th to win Vado Speedway Park feature
1Both Fito and Jake were in action on Saturday night again at the Vado Speedway Park in Vado, NM. Both drivers entered action in both the USRA Modified and USRA B-Mod classes.

In the Mods, Fito ran fourth in his heat race before charging from his 12th starting spot in the feature up to cross the finish line with an impressive runner up finish. Jake fell out of his heat race and then raced from 21st up to 9th when the checkered flag flew in the main. In the B-Mods, Fito won his heat race from the pole and then unfortunately fell out of the feature, ending his night early, while Jake ran third in his heat race but then continued his hot streak and stormed from his 14th starting spot in the main to pick up his third straight feature win for his efforts. April 10, 2021 - Jake sweeps Winter Meltdown at Vado in B-Mod
1A busy weekend concluded with two wins for Team GRC this past weekend as both Fito and Jake competed in the 2-day Winter Meltdown event at the Vado Speedway Park on Friday and Saturday nights.

Both drivers entered both the USRA Modified and B-Mod divisions each night, and Jake was able to parlay the weekend into a pair of wins, while Fito posted a pair of fourth place finishes in the Modified events and recorded a runner up finish in the Saturday night B-Mod event as well.

Friday, Fito ran fourth in his heat race in the Mod and then charged from 12th up to 4th in the feature, while he was able to work his way from 15th up to 3rd in the B-Mod main after a 5th place finish in his heat race. Jake won his Mod heat from 6th, putting him on the front row for the feature, which saw him battled for the lead for the majority of the event, eventually crossing the finish line with a 3rd place finish. In the B-Mods, he fell out of his heat race, which forced him to start 19th in the feature, but that didn't stop him as he methodically worked his way through the field to the front and parked his borrowed #18G in victory lane. Saturday, Fito ran second in his Modified heat and then raced from 7th up into the top three for the majority of the event, crossing the line with a 4th place finish when the checkered flew. In the B-Mod, he ran second in his heat and then came home with a solid third place finish in the feature after running inside the top three throughout the entire event. Jake continued his winning ways as he raced from his 8th starting position in the feature to battled for the lead early in the feature and then pull away to win for the second night in a row. In the Mod, he was disqualified in his heat race for losing a muffler on the track, so he had to start at the tail of the night's b-main. He was able to secure a transfer position into the feature and then was able to race his way from his 23rd starting spot into the top ten, but eventually fell out of the race and did not finish.

April 3, 2021 - Fito and Jake follow USMTS to Hamilton County Speedway
1The father-son team continued on the road with the United States Modified Touring Series this past weekend with the two events held at the Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, IA. 

Both drivers had some bad luck over the weekend, with Fito missing the main event both nights after 8th and 11th place finishes in the b-mains, while Jake won his qualifying heat race on Friday night, and jumped to the lead from the outside of the front row in the night's main event and after leading the first half of the event suffered a flat tire, ending his bid for the win. He ended up recording an 18th place finish.

Saturday, Jake ran second in his heat and came home 17th in the feature on the big half mile.

March 27, 2021 - Gallardo's attend King of America at Humboldt

It was an up and down weekend for both the G17 and J17 as there were 91 Modifieds in attendance for the weekend.

1Friday, Fito ran tenth in his heat race and 12th in the b-main, while Jake ran second in his heat, but then fell out of the b-main after starting on the pole. Saturday's day show saw Fito run fourth in his heat and then fell out of the b. Jake raced from 5th to 4th in his heat and then crossed the finish line 6th in the b.

Saturday's night show's results saw Fito run 7th in the heat and 13th in the b, while Jake ran second in his heat race and qualified for the $20,000 to win feature event. During the 60-lapper, he raced from 20th into the top 15 before falling out of the race before the checkered flew.

March 20, 2021 - Jake rallies to finish 11th in Vado Speedway Park reopening
1Both Fito and Jake were in action on Saturday night as their hometown track - the Vado Speedway Park, in Vado, New Mexico reopened for the first time in 14 months due to the COVID-19 statewide shutdown in New Mexico.

Both drivers were behind the wheel of USRA B-Mods for the track's opening night. 

Fito, in a Pete Vargas-owned #777 started sixth in the opening heat race of the night and quickly raced to the lead and won it, earning the pole for the feature event, but unfortunately mechanical issues just before the main kept him from starting the feature.

Jake, driving a Candy Hansen-owned #18g also started 6th in his heat and raced his way up to finish 2nd, putting himself sixth in the feature lineup. He drove to the front quickly at the drop of the green and raced out front for the majority of the event until contact with a lapped car cut a tire and he was forced into the hot pit area. He restarted at the tail and was able to race up to finish 11th.

March 6, 2021 - Gallardo's attend USMTS doubleheader at RPM Speedway

1Friday night Fito started 2nd and won his qualifying head race earning the Sybesma Pole Award for the main event. Jake started third in his heat race and raced to a second-place finish. In the feature, Fito rolled from the pole and ran inside the top five for the first portion of the event until he unfortunately got into the backstretch wall causing right front damage and ending his night. Jake started 9th in the main and ran inside the top ten early, but he, also fell out of the race before the checkered.

Saturday, Fito started 10th and finished 9th in his heat race then started 13th and ran 11th in the b-main. Jake started 5th and raced up to 3rd in his heat before winning the b-main from the pole and qualifying for the 15th starting spot in the night's 50-lap feature event. In the feature, he rolled off from the inside of the 8th row and worked his way forward into the top ten, crossing the finish line with a 10th place run.

January 17, 2021 - Fito and Jake Gallardo wrap up final three rounds of WWS
1Fito and Jake were back at the Wild West Shootout for the final three nights over the weekend in their #G17 and #J17 Modifieds.

Friday night, Fito drew the 12th starting spot in his heat race and fell out of the race early, which put him 23rd in the night's b-main. He also pulled off early to save his equipment. Jake started on the pole in his heat race, but fell out of the race, causing him to start 26th in one of the b-mains for the night. Just like Fito, Jake decided it was better to pull off early and save his equipment. 

Saturday, he started 6th in his heat race and charged forward to cross the finish line in 2nd, putting him 5th in the feature lineup. From his inside third row starting spot, he ran inside the top ten early, but for the second night in a row encountered issues, forcing him to retire early. Jake had a deja vu moment as he again started on the pole of his heat and again fell out of the event, putting him 28th in a b-main. Sunday, Fito was able to race to a second-place finish in his heat race, which put him on the pole of the b-main. He ran second in that event as well, transferring into the feature event. In the feature, he rolled of 19th and came home with a 21st place finish for his efforts to cap off the week long event. Jake was on the pole for the third night in a row in his heat race and was able to run second, which put him on the front row of one of the night's b-mains. He was able to win the b, earning the 17th starting spot in the main. In the main, he wrapped up his week with an 18th place finish for his efforts.

January 13, 2020 - Fito finishes 16th in round three of WWS
Fito and Jake were back in action at the Wild West Shootout for the mini-series third event of 2021. Both drivers drew at the back of their heat races and Fito started 11th in his, with Jake 9th in his. Fito was able to storm through the pack and cross the finish line with a runner up finish, putting him on the pole for the night's feature event. Jake raced from 9th up to 6th in his heat race and then raced from 8th up to battle for a transfer spot in the night's b-main, coming up one spot short, finishing 5th. In the feature, Fito raced up front for much of the event, battling inside the top five for the first half of the event, eventually slipping back and falling out of the race, finishing 16th officially.

January 10, 2020 - Gallardo tops Modified field in night two of Wild West Shootout
1Fito and Jake began their 2021 racing seasons by making the trip over to the Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, AZ for the annual Wild West Shootout, which is a six-race mini-series featuring Late Models, Modifieds and X-Mods. The event started on Saturday and the team rolled into track after draw cut off, which meant that they needed to start at the back of their respective heat races. Fito was able to rally from 11th to 4th and Jake was able to race from 11th to 6th in his. Both drivers then would line up in b-mains and both would end up crossing the finish line with 7th place finishes for their efforts.

After shaking off the rust on Saturday, the team was back in action on Sunday, where Fito raced from 6th to 3rd in his heat race, while Jake stormed from 11th to 3rd in his. During the feature, Fito started 10th and ran inside the top ten all race long, finishing with a tenth-place finish, but Jake was the talk of the night. He started on the pole and raced out front the entire 25-lapper, battling nose to tail and side by side with defending USMTS National Champion Rodney Sanders for the entire event. Jake was able to hold off Sanders and won a thrilling main event in a near photo finish.

November 9, 2020 - Jake Gallardo Races to USRA National Championship Runner Up Finish; Fito Finishes Sixth in Final Rundown

November 7, 2020 - Gallardo's attend Southern Nationals at RPM Speedway
1The Gallardo team made the trip to the RPM Speedway in Crandall, TX over this past weekend for the final USMTS weekend of the season during the Summit Southern Nationals. Thursday night, Fito raced from 4th to win his qualifying heat race and redrew the 6 pill for the feature. Jake struggled a bit racing to a 5th place finsih in his heat and falling out of the b-main, ending his night early. In the feature, Fito started 6th and raced his way into second early on and bagan to battle for the lead, however his car got tight and he ended up racing home with a third place finish.

Friday night,  Jake was able to race from 5th to 1st to win his heat race, while Fito fell out of his heat before starting 10th and racing up to 7th in the night's b-main. In the feature, Fito raced a back up car, starting 25th and pulling in early in the main, while Jake started 7th and raced his way into the top five early, coming home with a fourth place finish.

Saturday, for the finale, Fito raced from 4th to 3rd in his heat, then won the first b-main, earning the 13th starting spot in the main event. Jake raced from 8th to 4th in his heat, then won the second b-main, earning the 14th starting spot in the feature. In the 50-lap, $5,000 to win main event, the father-son duo started side by side in the 7th row and both were able to race into the top ten, with Fito crossing the finish line in 10th and Jake charging into the top five, crossing under the checkered flag with his second fourth place finish in a row.

October 31, 2020 - Gallardo's compete in USRA tripleheader in Kansas
1Fito and Jake make their way to Kansas over the weekend for the final USRA Modified national points weekend of the year. The MODster Mash, as the weekend was dubbed, featured a pair of $10,000 to win events on Friday and Saturday at the Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, KS and at the 81 Speedway in Park City, KS and a $5,000 to win event at the Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, KS on Sunday night.

1Friday night was the 5th annual Grant Junghans Memorial, paying $10,002 to win in memory of former USMTS Rookie of the Year Grant Junghans. Fito got caught up in an opening lap crash during heat race action, which ended his run, while Jake won his heat from the outside of the front row. In the feature, Jake started 7th and raced inside the top ten early in the event but fell out due to rough track conditions.

Saturday at 81, the event paid $10,031 on Halloween and both drivers were once again in action. Fito ran 6th in his heat race, while Jake finished 4th in his. Fito then raced from 8th to 3rd in his b-main and Jake won his b, both qualifying for the feature event. In the feature, Fito was credited with a 22nd place finish and Jake crossed the line in 14th. Sunday, Jake won his heat from third and qualified for the redraw, which put him on the pole for the night's finale. Fito had to work a little harder as he raced from 7th to 5th in his heat, then from 4th to 2nd in the b, putting him 17th in the feature starting lineup. In the feature, Jake settled into the second spot early, but ended up cutting a left rear tire, forcing him into the work area and to restart at the tail. When the checkered flag flew, Fito finished 17th and Jake 19th.

October 17, 2020 - Jake Gallardo busts out broom in Fall Invasion at Alien Motor Speedway
Both Fito and Jake made the trip to the Alien Motor Speedway in Roswell, NM for the 2 day Fall Invasion event. Friday night, Jake ran fourth in his heat race and Fito ran 6th. In the main, Fito started 12th, but unfortunately fell out of competition before the event was over, while Jake raced from his 6th starting spot to the lead and raced to the opening night win. 

1Saturday, Fito again ran 6th in his heat, while Jake won his. In Saturday night's $3,000 to win main, Fito charged from 18th up to 5th when the checkered flag flew, while Jake started on the outside of the front row and jumped out front quickly and lead from start to finish to complete the weekend sweep.
