Gallardo trio compete in Winter Meltdown at Vado

All three drivers were in action over the weekend during the 25th annual Winter Meltdown at the Vado Speedway Park in Vado, NM for the two-day event to kick off the track's regular season. Fito ran double duty both nights, racing his primary #G17 USRA Modified as well as a USRA B-Mod each night. Jake and Payton both competed in their USRA Modifieds as well.

Friday night, Jake won his Modified heat and raced inside the top during the night's feature, crossing the finish line in 4th for his efforts. Fito won his B-Mod heat from third and raced from third to finish second at the checkered. In the Mods, he ran third in his heat race but did not start the feature. Payton ran seventh in his heat race before snagging the final transfer spot into the feature from the b-main and then ran 22nd when the checkered flag flew in the night's feature event.

Saturday, Jake nearly repeated his feat from Friday night, winning his heat race again and then finishing one spot higher in the feature, crossing the line in third. Fito ran third in his Modified heat race and unfortunately ended up falling out of the feature early with mechanical issues. In the B-Mod, he didnt start his heat race, but then proceeded to storm from 10th to win the b-main and then continued his charge forward in the feature, racing from his 17th starting spot up to finish a solid runner up. Payton ran seventh in his heat race and ended up missing the feature, officially being credited with a 13th place finish in the night's b-main.
