Fito and Jake score podium finish at West Texas Raceway
Fito, Jake and Peyton loaded up their USRA Modifieds and made the trip to the West Texas Raceway in Lubbock, TX this past Friday night for the track's 2023 season opener.
To start the night, Jake was able to win his qualifying heat race from the pole, while Fito finished 6th in his heat and Peyton ran 7th in his. In the main, Jake faired the best, racing from 5th up to finish 2nd with Fito starting 13th and charging forward to cross the finish line in third. Peyton started 14th, next to his dad, and raced up to finish 11th, just outside of the top ten in his first visit to the track.
Saturday, Fito made the trip back to compete at the Vado Speedway Park while Jake and Peyton made the trip to the Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo, TX. At Vado, Fito won his heat from fourth and after starting third in the feature, he raced his way up to second and battled for the lead during the late stages of the event, settling for second at the checkered. At Route 66, Jake ended up with night-ending mechanical issues before he even got on track, while Peyton ran third in his heat race and then was officially scored with an 18th place finish in the night's feature evnet.
