April 15, 2020 - Gallardo Gasses His Way To Pair of 2019 Vado Speedway Park Track Titles; Eyes 2 More In 2020
Las Cruces, New Mexico multi division racer Jake Gallardo cleaned up during the 2019 season at the Vado Speedway Park in Vado, New Mexico by not only winning the UMP Super Late Model track championship by 34 points over his father Fito, but Jake also snagged the coveted USRA Modified track title by unseating 2018 Southern New Mexico Speedway champ Bumper Jones by just 11 points in the process. Plus, Jake made several appearances in a USRA X-Mod throughout the course of the season and raced to victory lane on three different occasions in that division as well, bringing his overall 2019 win total to 19 triumphs.

Jake, the owner of G3 Fitness in Las Cruces, has seen much success in both the Modified and Late Model divisions over the years, winning 48 Modified features, 31 Late Model features, 9 X-Mod main events in limited starts and even on Stock Car victory over the past five seasons.

For Jake, 2019 was a stellar season. He won 4 times at Vado in what many believe is one of the toughest weekly Modified divisions in the country, plus he went unbeaten in the Late Models – winning all ten features that we held at the track during the inaugural season! The only time Jake didn’t win the Late Model feature was in late August when the features rained out and were cancelled, or he very well may have gone 11 for 11 on the season.

Jake’s cars are sponsored by Gallardo Construction, G3 Fitness, JGF General Contractors, Brand Creative, Vic Hill Racing Engines, Team GRC, AOS Racing Engines, Real Racing Wheels, FK Rod Ends and BCD Designs.

The 27-year old was able to start his racing career in the Street Stock division after competing in the Go Kart ranks from the age of 6 or 7. Once into the full bodied cars, Jake won a couple races during that year and a half that he ran the Street Stock class before moving up into the X-Mods, which is a class that is similar to B-Mods, Midwest Modifieds or SportMods in other areas of the country. Jake’s X-Mod career was short lived as he only ran his dad’s old D & M Chassis for less than a year before the opportunity came for him to put one of his dad’s ‘big Mod’ motors in his X-Mod for the Fall Nationals, a $10,000 to win event that the Southern New Mexico Speedway hosted annually, and once Jake got a feel of the power of the Modified division, he was set and knew that the Modified division is where he wanted to be. Since moving into the Modifieds, Jake has run very well in that division, plus dominating the Late Model division over the past several seasons as well. And, from time to time, he will hop back into an X-Mod or even a Stock Car, where he enjoys much success as well.

Jake is supported on and off the track from his girlfriend Dolltyn and kids Addie and Aria, plus his dad Fito, crew chief Berni and many other friends and family members.

Jake's 2020 season plans are to try to defend both of his 2019 track titles, while also visiting other area tracks to compete in select other USRA and USMTS events as his schedule permits.

The state-of-the-art Vado Speedway Park, located in Vado, New Mexico opened in June of 2019 and held a total of thirty events during between the June 14th opener and the November 30th finale. The track will enter its second season in 2020 with over 30 events planned for its sophomore season.
