Fito and Jake were back in action on Saturday night at the Vado Speedway Park in Vado, NM and Jake was able to sweep the night in both the USRA Modified and USRA B-Mod divisions. (James Adams Jr. photos)

In the Mods, Jake raced from 4th to 2nd in his heat race and then after starting 3rd in the feature, he quickly jumped out front and ran off with his first Modified win of the season. In the B-Mod, he raced from 7th up to 4th in his heat race and then charged from 10th to race away with his 4th straight B-Mod feature win of the season.

1Fito had a good night as well, racing from 5th to 2nd in his Modified heat and then backing that up with a solid second place finish in the feature, after starting 8th. In the B-Mod, he fell out of the heat race, which forced him to start 20th in the main. From his 10th row starting position, he charged through the field and made it to second when the checkered flag flew.

April 10, 2021 - Jake sweeps Winter Meltdown at Vado in B-Mod
1A busy weekend concluded with two wins for Team GRC this past weekend as both Fito and Jake competed in the 2-day Winter Meltdown event at the Vado Speedway Park on Friday and Saturday nights.

Both drivers entered both the USRA Modified and B-Mod divisions each night, and Jake was able to parlay the weekend into a pair of wins, while Fito posted a pair of fourth place finishes in the Modified events and recorded a runner up finish in the Saturday night B-Mod event as well.

Friday, Fito ran fourth in his heat race in the Mod and then charged from 12th up to 4th in the feature, while he was able to work his way from 15th up to 3rd in the B-Mod main after a 5th place finish in his heat race. Jake won his Mod heat from 6th, putting him on the front row for the feature, which saw him battled for the lead for the majority of the event, eventually crossing the finish line with a 3rd place finish. In the B-Mods, he fell out of his heat race, which forced him to start 19th in the feature, but that didn't stop him as he methodically worked his way through the field to the front and parked his borrowed #18G in victory lane. Saturday, Fito ran second in his Modified heat and then raced from 7th up into the top three for the majority of the event, crossing the line with a 4th place finish when the checkered flew. In the B-Mod, he ran second in his heat and then came home with a solid third place finish in the feature after running inside the top three throughout the entire event. Jake continued his winning ways as he raced from his 8th starting position in the feature to battled for the lead early in the feature and then pull away to win for the second night in a row. In the Mod, he was disqualified in his heat race for losing a muffler on the track, so he had to start at the tail of the night's b-main. He was able to secure a transfer position into the feature and then was able to race his way from his 23rd starting spot into the top ten, but eventually fell out of the race and did not finish.

April 3, 2021 - Fito and Jake follow USMTS to Hamilton County Speedway
1The father-son team continued on the road with the United States Modified Touring Series this past weekend with the two events held at the Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, IA.

Both drivers had some bad luck over the weekend, with Fito missing the main event both nights after 8th and 11th place finishes in the b-mains, while Jake won his qualifying heat race on Friday night, and jumped to the lead from the outside of the front row in the night's main event and after leading the first half of the event suffered a flat tire, ending his bid for the win. He ended up recording an 18th place finish.

Saturday, Jake ran second in his heat and came home 17th in the feature on the big half mile.
