April 22, 2018 - Fito Gallardo Wins Night Two of Short Track Shootout in Late Model
Both Fito and Jake were back in competition this weekend at the Short Track Shootout at their home town track, the Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, NM. Friday night Fito ran third in his Modified heat and then after starting 5th in the main event, fell out of competition, ending his night early. In the Late Model, he raced from 6th to 3rd in his heat race and then came home a solid 4th in the main event. Jake raced from 5th to 3rd in his Modified heat race before coming from 16th to 11th in the main event. In the Late Model, Jake won his heat race from third and then started 8th in the main and came home with a very solid runner up finish.

Saturday night, Fito raced from 6th to 2nd in his Modified heat race before finishing a respectable 8th in the main event. He also finished second in his Late Model heat race, after starting 8th and then lead a wire to wire feature to win his first Late Model race of the season. Jake won his Modified heat race from the pole and then came home with a hard fought 6th place run in the main event. Sunday's finale saw Fito run second in his Modified heat race and start and finish 10th in the main event, while Jake didn't finish his Modified heat race and didn't start the b-main with mechanical troubles. The Late Models only ran a feature, which saw the father-son duo start on the front row together and Fito lead early only to have mechanical troubles while leading, taking Jake out in the process. Fito's night ended and Jake went to the tail, where he tried to work his way back through traffic, but ended up retiring early.

April 14, 2018 - Gallardo's Follow USMTS to Canyon Speedway Park
Both Fito and Jake made the trip to the Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Arizona for the 2 day USMTS event. Friday night, Jake sat out but Fito jumped in Jake's #G3 and raced to a 6th place finish in the heat, then ran 4th in the b-main, putting himself 20th in the main starting lineup. During the main, Fito retired early, ending up 25th in the final run down. 

Saturday night, both driver is were in action and both won heat races, putting both the G3 and J17 into the night's main event redraw. Fito redrew 2nd and Jake redrew 8th for the 40-lap, $3,000 to win main. Polesitter Jake O'Neil took the lead at the start with Fito settling into second. Fito would run inside the top five for much of the event, eventually settling for ninth at the checkered. Jake rolled off 8th and ran inside the top ten for the first half of the event before retiring early, ending his night.
