March 25th, 2017 - Gallardo Duo Attend King of America Mod Nationals at Humboldt Speedway
Both Fito and Jake made the long trip to the Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kansas for this past weekend's King of America VII. Both drivers entered the $3,000 to win USMTS event on Thursday night with Fito racing to a heat race win and Jake suffering a dnf in heat race action. Fito then started 7th and raced inside the top ten for a majority of the feature until having some mechanical troubles and retiring early from the event. After his troubles in the heat race, Jake rallied from 17th to 7th in the b-main, but came up a couple spots short of transferring into the main.

Friday, each USMTS competitor raced in three heat races to set up the lineups for Saturday's main event. Fito Raced from 6th to 2nd in his opening heat race; then raced from 2nd to 2nd in heat race number 2 and ran 8th from 10th, after having to go to tail late in the event, in his third heat race. Fito tallied enough points to sit 13th overall, putting him on the pole for Saturday's b-main. Jake's heats went as follows: 3rd from 3rd in his first heat, then 3rd from 12th in his second heat and 5th from 8th in his third heat race, putting him 9th overall in points, locking him into the main. Saturday, Fito raced to a solid third place finish in the b-main, locking him into his 15th starting spot for the 70-lap main. Both Fito and Jake ran around the top ten for the early part of the event, only to see Fito drop out with mechanical troubles on lap 7 and then Jake suffered the same fate as he pulled out of competition on lap 52, ending their solid weekends.

March 19th, 2017 - Jake Gallardo Visits Victory Lane in Late Model and Modified
Fito and Jake both entered action this past weekend at the Short Track Shootout at the Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, NM in both their Super Late Model and Modified. Friday night, Fito only competed in the Modified division but had a great start to the weekend by winning his heat race and racing from 3rd to a solid runner up finish in the main event, while Jake raced both the Late Model and Modified and came home with a pair of top five finishes as well. After finishing 2nd in the Late Model heat race, Jake raced inside the top five all event long, coming home fourth. In the Modified division, Jake raced from 6th to 3rd in his heat race and then charged from his 11th starting spot to a solid 3rd place in the night's main.

Saturday night, Fito competed in both divisions and raced from 14th to 5th in the Late Model feature after a 5th place finish in his heat race set him behind a bit, but he came home with a top five finish for his efforts and in the Modified division, he ran third in his heat and again was forced to start in the 7th row for the main event, which he charged from 13th to 7th at the checkered. Jake raced from 5th to 3rd in his Late Model heat race and then stormed from 8th to 2nd when the checkered flew, but the apparent winner was disqualified in tech, handing the win to Jake! To cap off the night, Jake ran a close 2nd in the Modified main event as well, after racing from 6th to 2nd in his heat race lined him up 3rd on the grid for the Mod main. (Donald Iverson photo)

Sunday's $5,000 to win Modified finale once again saw Jake in his newly numbered #G3 pace the field. Jake raced to a heat race win from third and then redrew the #8 starting spot in the main, but that didn't phase him one bit as he sliced his way through traffic to pick up the big money and the big check with the victory. Jake also competed in the Late Model and raced to a 5th place finish in his heat race and a 6th place finish, after starting 14th, in the main. Fito capped off his weekend with a pair of top five finishes as well, racing to a 3rd place finish in both his Late Model heat and feature and then after running third in his Modified heat, he charged from 12th to 5th when the final checkered flew on the weekend in the Late Model main.
